Subj: DISCONTINUANCE OF THE SERVICE DRESS BLUE (APLHA) UNIFORM -022/09

1. The Service Dress Blue (Alpha) uniform was discontinued as a Coast Guard
uniform several years ago.

2. In January 2009, the Auxiliary National Board approved a recommendation
to discontinue its use within the Auxiliary, and the Chief Director has
approved this National Board action. Accordingly, the Service Dress Blue
(Alpha) uniform is no longer authorized as an Auxiliary uniform.

3. This change will be included in the next update to the Coast Guard
Auxiliary Manual.

document I mostly wear deck shoes with my ODU, but I would like to add the 8" workboot to the uniform. I have found that the boot shown in the Coast Guard Uniform supplies is unnecessarily expensive when compared to like boots which can be purchased at Walmart. So, can any 8" safety-toe, black work boots be worn as part of the ODU? For example, I have found this type of boot (black with elastic insert style boot) available for as low as $23. as compared to over $100. through the Coast Guard outlets.
document When holding multiple positions such as FC and SO, which office shoulder board should be worn?
document The knowledge base indicates that members should wear the same uniform during operations; however it may not always be possible, i.e., I cannot wear shorts due to medical and many of my shipmates prefer the Hot Weather Uniform (Florida waters) is there a point at which the uniform can be considered the "same" -- an example that I could think of would be: Upper wear 1) Sun Hat or ballcap 2) Blue T-shirt with Aux logo Lower wear as appropriate Also is there a specific reference to this "same" uniform for all?
document Minimum Flotation Requirements
document Our flotilla meets at a public dining facility. We have a meal there. Would the Tropical Blue Long be appropriate in that case (as opposed to the ODU for meetings that are not in a public place) ?
