Could velcro insignia be authorized or could auxiliarists continue to wear metal insignia in lieu of sewn on insignia, if desired, and remove the insignia when performing hazardous duty.

You may use Velcro to attach your name, and service tag and office insignia.  This should enable easy removal in required situations.
